One day course – intro to digital photography. This course is ideal for the complete beginner to those with some understanding of digital photography. You will gain sound knowledge and a feeling of confidence. You may be one of those who has a DSLR camera but have relied on the automatic controls – there’s so much you’ll learn. Even if you are using some of the manual controls on your camera but are not yet confident knowing and understanding the principals – this course will suit you.

 

Your learning experience will be very hands-on without all the fluffy technical jargon. You’ll be doing things with your camera you didn’t think possible! The day will include sessions in aperture, shutter speeds, exposure control, ISO and white balance. It will also include using the rules of composition to creatively improve your photography. Don’t worry if you don’t know what any of this means yet – most people don’t when they come to us! Book now, as places go quickly!

Penketh Highschool Three Day Photography Tuition

The Media & Arts Teaching Team at Penketh Highschool in Warrington contacted me recently to book a special three day Photography Course. Teaching beginners photography, studio photography and to consult on equipment and teaching methods.

 

The school will be offering beginners photography to students in the 2012-13-school term and the session was booked to help the teaching staff construct a programme.

I really enjoyed working with the team and created a three-day course, teaching the basics of photography, aperture priority, depth of field, shutter speed and ISO. The group then brought all their new skills together in practical tuitions working with a professional model and equipment.

We hired Rory to teach several members of staff at a high school about photography and were not disappointed by the quality of the training. Upon completion of the three-day course we all felt as though we had a strong grasp of the fundamentals of photography and had developed our skills considerably in a short space of time. The training was mostly practical, underpinned by the important theoretical elements that we needed in order to improve and learn.

 

I particularly enjoyed the ‘live briefs’ that were set and the immediacy of Rory’s honest and constructive feedback! Communication before and after the training was excellent. We received a full course contents email and once the training had been completed Rory sent us all the notes that we needed and a shopping list of equipment to buy for the photography course. Superb!

“Interesting, valuable/essential skills learnt from day 1″

 

We hired Rory in to help teach us some basic photography techniques so we could pass these on to the pupils. The course was very interesting throughout the 3 days, with a mixture of practical’s that got you thinking about the shoot. Rory was very professional throughout and gave us some very useful information around the world of photography.

 

The practical’s were really good, as Rory briefed us then gave a select amount of time to produce a photo centred around the brief. We then put all the photographs produced on the screen and analysed them according to the brief. This i found most useful as it got us to think about what we had produced and where we could improve. Overall, a very useful and well-run course, highly recommended!

First Beginners Photography Course Feedback

This year began with my 3 Week Beginners Photography Course in Liverpool. Throughout the 3 evening sessions the delegates learnt how to use their cameras on manual mode. Mastering Shutter Speed, Depth of Field and Aperture Priority. The delegates where also taught studio photography techniques and worked with professional models to reaffirm their skills.
