With only three days to go I have been busy making the final preparations for the Exhibition. The last prints arrived today from DS Colour Labs in Manchester, and I have been busy framing.
Posters are now up all over Liverpool and I am hoping to have a good turn out on Friday and Saturday. Raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support, meeting new people and receiving feedback on my latest projects.

This week I was contacted by Fase Promotions for one of my images of Amanda Harrington, they have featured the image on their website and are looking for the Face of the North West in 2012. Take a look at the website and if you want to become the Fase go ahead and sign up.
Allan a professional Liverpool actor popped into the studio today for some new headshots to feature on spotlight and his up and coming castings. The images look great and Allan is very pleased with the results see his comments below.
Rory shot some headshots for my acting website. He had a professional make up artist for the shoot and certainly put me at ease throughout the experience. His work was nothing less than excellent, and resulted in some excellent headshots. I’d say Rory and his team are value for money and I enjoyed the experience and am delighted at the result. Your model portfolio is many times the first contact a potential client or agency has with you. This means that your portfolio images are extremely important to your modeling career. If you look at portfolios those models who don’t have a professional portfolio find it hard to get work. Its Simple fact that being more relaxed and having fun during a model photo session will produce better images.
There are a few EXTREMELY important concepts to think about:
Remember that this is truly a “first impression” business. You know the quote – “You only get one chance to make a good first impression.” – There is no business where that is more true than modeling. Every agency or client that you contact – your photos, comp card or modeling portfolio will always go in the door before you.
Consider this: If McDonald’s were going to launch a new print ad campaign for the Big Mac. . . do you think that they would go to the nearest McDonald’s, order a few Big Mac’s and return to the studio to photograph them? Of course not! They would hire the most creative and skilled food stylists from New York or Los Angeles to build and photograph a Big Mac – the likes of which you nor I will ever have the opportunity to eat – but it sure will make us want to go out and buy one! What is my point?
Set your standards HIGH! You MUST use a very critical eye when selecting any images to put in your modeling portfolio. Make sure that the pictures that you show have the ability to WOW agencies and potential clients.
You are only as good as your worst image – and believe me – photographers, agencies and art directors WILL remember the worst image.:
It is my contention that there are 4 kinds of pictures that you will potentially wind up with. Bad, Good, Great and WOW pictures.
Your modeling portfolio should consist ONLY of Great and WOW photos. Throw away the Bad and store the Good in a box of memories. Place your WOW pictures on the right hand pages of your portfolio and the Great pictures on the left hand side.
If you pick Rory Lewis to shoot your model portfolio he will take time to see that you enjoy every minute from the time you begin with makeup till the final model portfolio is created. Talking you through the whole process step by step to create images that will only serve to WOW potential agencies and clients. Take a look at Rory’s portfolio packages to view more information on the services he can offer.
Today I was commissioned to shoot the singer Nikki Belle for an editorial being published next month. Nikki is currently working on her solo material and is a renown club singer both in the UK and Ibiza. I had a chance to take a look at her music video sex shooter and I was very impressed. The images look great and I can’t wait to see the editorial in print.
I absolutely adore my latest acquisition a Nikon F/1.8 50mm lens. I couldn’t imagine life without it. Everyone who buys this lens is amazed by the quality and sharpness. I arranged a test shoot recently with Lisa Bostock from Boss and the results are stunning.
The F/1.8′s depth really shows it is the perfect lens for my passion of close up portraiture. It focuses very quickly even in low light and its extremely sharp even at F/1.8.
